Protect your haircut and color from damage created by heat, humidity and swimming this summer with these tips from our hair stylists!
1. Start the summer off with a trim.
Make an appointment with your hairstylist for a trim, then aim for routine trims to combat damage such as split ends.
2. Wash hair less often.
Give your hair a break from daily washing that can strip natural oils from the hair and scalp, causing dryness.
3. Heat + Humidity + Dry Hair = Frizz
Switch to a hydrating/moisturizing Shampoo + Conditioner, like Evo’s The Therapist, to ensure protection against any dryness or damage the sun may cause.
4. Reduce use of hot styling tools like curling irons, straighteners and blow dryers.
Beachy waves are still attainable without using hot styling tools or damaging your hair.
If use of hot styling tools is necessary, use a heat protection hair product, such as Evo’s Icon Welder Heat Protection Spray, to help reduce any further damage to the hair.
5. Put your hair up in loose, comfortable styles to reduce breakage and damage.
Tension from tight ponytails and buns can cause breakage, especially if the hair is already damaged or dry. Try a new style this summer with this tutorial!
7. Use hair products to reduce frizz like sun-protecting hair milk.
Davines SU Hair Milk is a perfect hair product for protecting hair while relaxing out on the beach, exercising outside and overall summer sun exposure.
Want to take a dip, but don’t want the damage from chlorine and other pool chemicals? Use a Leave-in Conditioner, like Davines SU Hair Mask, on hair after showering to add an extra layer of protection to your hair.
8. Comb hair regularly, but don’t overdo it!
Did you know that on average, a person loses 50-100 strands of hair a day? While hair is damp, brush with a wide tooth comb to help prevent breakage and damage to the hair.
9. Stay hydrated + take your vitamins!
Drink at least 4 glasses of water a day to keep hair and skin looking healthy and glowing. Taking a multivitamin daily can also aid in combating hair damage during the summer months.
